Ulcerations of oral mucosa |
Damage to the mucous membranes, especially oral mucous membranes (stomatitis), leads to painful ulcerations of the mouth, interfering with the client's desire to eat. The mucous membranes and mouth may be dry (xerostomia) as a side effect of the chemotherapy. Pale skin may be a sign of anemia, and ecchymosis may be indicative of a low platelet count. This question requires knowledge of the listed processes.
